ROLE of the POSITION

Reporting to the Associate Vice President and Director of University Police Services, Southern Command, the Police Services Division Chief works closely with the Director, other Divisional Chief(s), police department staff, academic/administrative campus, medical school, other NSHE campuses and the local community to plan, coordinate, direct and administer comprehensive and compliant policing activities, which promote a safe and secure environment for the campuses that Police Services are responsible for.

With the Director, the Division Chief will develop the police services strategic vision and will provide comprehensive leadership and general oversight for patrol operations and administrative functions of their respective division. Incumbent will ensure policing program compliance/reporting with all applicable laws, rules and regulations. Position will manage 24-hour/365 day-a-year law enforcement agencies. Position will be responsible for assisting in hiring, training, developing, evaluating, and supervising public safety support service staff, including facility monitors, dispatchers etc. The position will serve as a liaison with outside law enforcement agencies. Will assist in the development of budgets, and departmental expenditures.

Salary:

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.

Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Public Safety or related field from a regionally accredited college or university and 10 years of related professional experience (5 of required 10 years must be in law enforcement related administrative experience. Must have Professional License.

Preferred: FBI National Academy
