Anna Richardson Griffin, President

Anna Richardson Griffin is the lieutenant of the Violent Crime Bureau in the Criminal Investigations Division of the Tampa Police Department. Lieutenant Richardson Griffin joined the police department in 2005. 

Lieutenant Richardson Griffin oversees 80 department members divided into eight squads.  is responsible for the High Intensity Drug Task Force Narcotics squad, the Joint Operations Group targeting mid-level narcotics dealers, the US Marshall’s Fugitive Apprehension Task Force,  the Crime Gun Intelligence Unit which operates the in-house National Integrated Ballistics Identification machine, two street level narcotics squads and two gang squads responsible for the management of the Violent Impact Player program, which has received national recognition through Project Safe Neighborhood.

During her career, Lieutenant Richardson Griffin has held positions as a district robbery and property crime detective, corporal of the district latent investigative squad, corporal of the Field Training program, and a sergeant in Uniform Patrol.  As a lieutenant, she worked as a district shift commander, a lieutenant of both the Quality Assurance and Violent Crime Bureau lieutenant. Lieutenant Richardson Griffin is the first lieutenant for the Criminal Investigations Division.

Lieutenant Richardson Griffin is a certified instructor for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and teaches regularly on a variety of topics including Field Training Program. She is a co-chair of the new supervisor development committee facilitating training on leadership, effective communication, law enforcement stress awareness, and managing generational difference.  She has been a guest speaker at numerous colleges, community churches, and LGBT community events regarding law enforcement and the community it serves.  She recently created and co-presented a webinar through the National Public Safety Partnership on reducing gun crime.

Lieutenant Richardson Griffin has also been involved with technology improvement processes at the police department related to reports management systems and NC4’s Street Smart.

Lieutenant Richardson Griffin holds a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from the University of South Florida and a master of science degree in leadership in organizations – human capital from the University of Denver.

Lieutenant Richardson Griffin, in addition to being a member of NAWLEE since 2014, is an active member of the IACP, WIFLE, and NOBLE.
